The International Year of Sound will consist of co\u00adordinated activities on regional, national and international levels. These activities will aim to stimu\u00adlate the understanding throughout the world of the important role that sound plays in all aspects of our society. As well, these activities will also encourage an understanding of the need for the control of noise in nature, in the built environment, and in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inspired by the achievements of La Semaine du Son (The Week of Sound), and following naturally as an important contribution to UNESCO Resolution 39 C\/49 25 September 2017 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasemaineduson.org\/IMG\/pdf\/39c-49.engl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">\u201cThe Importance of Sound in Today\u2019s World: Promoting Best Practices\u201d<\/a>, the International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) is mobilizing its Member Societies and International Affiliates to promote best practices in sound during the year of 2020 to create an International Year of Sound (IYS 2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some details about the IYS 2020, the background, the structuring, the opportunities for sponsorship, can be found in the <a href=\"http:\/\/icacommission.org\/Newsletters\/ICA_Newsletter_May2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">May 2019 Newsletter<\/a> from the ICA President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Year of Sound is a global initiative to highlight the importance of sound and re\u00adlated sciences and technologies for all in society.
